First Mennonite Church (Halstead, KS)
receives former Burrton Mennonite Church Members
On July 5, the First Mennonite Church of Halstead was blessed to have 11 new members join the congregation. These new members came to us through the closing of Burrton Mennonite Church. The two churches have had a long-standing relationship with one another, so when their doors closed, they were invited to attend First Mennonite to see where the Spirit led them. After attending several services, we were pleased to hear that these 11 wanted to further our relationship.
Parts of their services will be implemented into the service at First Mennonite, specifically a monthly birthday tradition as well as specific songs that were significant to their worship time. Other members from Burrton Mennonite have moved on to other area churches and we pray for them as well. While we mourn the loss of their “home” church with them, we pray that they all find new roots and a peace in their new congregations.
