BLOGGING FOR THE BENEFIT OF GOD’S KINGDOM

At Tabor Mennonite Church, a “sermon blog” is beginning to be a fun way for our community to interact more with our Sunday worship theme throughout rest of the week. There are many different ways to blog, but here’s what we do: each week on Thursday, I post a few reflective thoughts and questions to help people prepare for the upcoming Sunday’s scripture and theme. Then, after church on Sunday, I post another blog entry with the sermon attached as well as a few more reflective questions (feel free to check it out here: http://philipbschmidt.wordpress.com/). Most recently, we’ve been having fun exploring the connections between Scripture and Dr. Seuss :). I blog in this way to help our community integrate worship into everyday life, and I hope that this will continue to be a tool that we use to bolster a community centered on Jesus. Furthermore, I hope that other church communities can use or adapt this style of blogging for the benefit of God’s kingdom!
