Hello! I am so excited to be joining the team of staff at Western District Conference! My only disappointment is that Beth Yoder is moving on to new things in another state – although that is precisely why I am getting this opportunity. In the short time we had together as she oriented me for taking over her position as WDC Business Manager, I have delighted in getting to know and work with her. I wish her and her family all the best as they journey forward!

My Mennonite connections initially came from my maternal grandparents and their German-speaking predecessors. During the first 13 years of my life, my family lived in Hillsboro, KS, and attended First Mennonite Church. We then moved to Newton, KS, where we attended First United Methodist Church (a connection to my paternal heritage). In Newton, I met and married my husband, Morrie, and we both attended and graduated from Bethel College.

I thoroughly enjoyed my broad-based liberal arts college education at Bethel and yet struggled to settle on a career path. I graduated with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. Along the way I took accounting and federal income tax classes. During my college years I worked as a manager in fast food, then a manager in retail, then as a bank teller and assistant bookkeeper. Eventually I decided to pursue a graduate degree in physical therapy.

After more than 20 years as a physical therapist, I have been working towards a career shift. I am passionate about my faith, my Mennonite heritage, and also developing and utilizing honorable leadership skills to leave a positive impact on the world around me. The last couple of years I have found a lot of meaning in my temporary role as “Transition Facilitator” on the leadership team at my home congregation of Faith Mennonite Church in Newton. As that work is drawing to an end, God has presented me with this exciting opportunity to continue working within the greater Mennonite Church, joining the incredible group of individuals already serving at Western District Conference.

I humbly ask for your grace and prayers as I come up to speed in this new role as Business Manager. I am thankful for the environment of teamwork and camaraderie I am experiencing as a new employee at WDC – especially with preparing and presenting financial information at the Annual Assembly, as I am brand new in my role and also unable to attend Assembly this year due to other prior commitments. Heidi Regier Kreider, Conference Minister, Cleo Koop of the Stewardship Committee and Michelle Hiebert, Administrative Assistant, have been especially helpful.

I am looking forward to supporting and serving in the ministries of Western District Conference!

¡Hola! ¡Estoy muy emocionada de unirme al equipo de personal de Western District Conference! Mi única decepción es que Beth Yoder se está mudando a cosas nuevas en otro estado, aunque precisamente por eso tengo esta oportunidad. En el poco tiempo que pasamos juntas mientras me orientaba para asumir su puesto como Gerente Financiera de WDC, me ha encantado conocerla y trabajar con ella. ¡Le deseo a ella y a su familia todo lo mejor en su viaje hacia adelante!

Mis conexiones menonitas inicialmente provinieron de mis abuelos maternos y sus predecesores de habla alemana. Durante los primeros 13 años de mi vida, mi familia vivió en Hillsboro, KS, y asistía a First Mennonite Church. Me apasiona mi fe, mi herencia menonita y también desarrollar y utilizar habilidades de liderazgo honorables para dejar un impacto positivo en el mundo que me rodea. En los últimos años, he encontrado mucho significado en mi papel temporal como “Facilitador de Transición” en el equipo de liderazgo en mi congregación local de Faith Mennonite Church en Newton. A medida que ese trabajo está llegando a su fin, Dios me ha presentado esta emocionante oportunidad de continuar trabajando dentro de la gran Iglesia Menonita, uniéndome al increíble grupo de personas que ya sirven en Western District Conference.

Humildemente les pido su gracia y oraciones mientras me pongo al día en este nuevo rol como Gerente Financiera. Estoy agradecida por el ambiente de trabajo en equipo y camaradería que estoy experimentando como nueva empleada en WDC, especialmente con la preparación y presentación de información financiera en la Asamblea Anual, ya que soy nueva en mi puesto y tampoco puedo asistir a la Asamblea este año debido a otros compromisos anteriores.
