Reading the Bible in a Coffee Shop
As Eden Mennonite Church began the Year of the Bible in the Fall of 2014, we chose to read the Bible together in public on a weekly basis. Every Monday morning since September, a group of 3-6 people have gathered to read aloud the passages for that week. The group meets at the local coffee shop/bakery in Moundridge for one hour. These gatherings have been good opportunities to simply be open to the scriptures as they are read aloud, with very minimal explanation or study, although vibrant discussion does occur from time to time with the more challenging passages. Community members have also taken notice of our regular reading times as folks get their morning coffee on the way to work.
