  1. Congratulations to Joanna Harader, Pastor of Peace Mennonite Church, Lawrence, KS, Editor of the book:   A Living Alternative, Anabaptist Christianity in a Post-Christendom World, together with A. O. Green, with Foreword by Stuart Murray.
  1. The WDC Resource Library welcomes Jeanette Roberts as the part-time Interim Librarian beginning in March.  Jeanette will be in the library on Thursdays.  For assistance from Jeanette, email her at: crlib@mennowdc.org, or plan your visits on Thursdays.  Of course you are welcome in the Resource Library any day of the week, and other WDC staff will assist you as much as possible.

WDC Announcements

  1. First Mennonite Church, Halstead, KS will hold their annual verenike supper on Saturday, February 21 from 5-7 pm.  Cost is by donation; proceeds will go to church missions.
  2. Western District Conference and South Central Conference churches are invited to bring teams to the Basketball Tournament during March 16-21 at Bethel College gyms.  Please register by March 6 in order to determine if there are enough teams to hold the tournament.  Registration fee:  $150 per team.  Register online and information at:  https://mennowdc.org/wdc-basketball-tournament/
  3. Save the date – April 11 – WDC Reference Council will be held at Hope Mennonite Church in Wichita, KS.  The focus of this Reference Council will be the resolution being brought by Rainbow Mennonite Church for Assembly 2015 regarding pastors performing same-sex unions.

Mennonite Church USA now has a mobile app, and if you’re planning to attend convention this summer, you’ll want to download it soon to get all the latest updates.  On your mobile device, search for the “Mennonite Church USA” app, and view the KC2015 event!  Thanks to the Mennonite colleges for sponsoring the development of this app.
  2. Cornelius Krahn Mennonite Multimedia Contest for High Schoolers:  The Mennonite Life journal invites high school scholars and artists to submit essays, creative writing, multimedia projects, or other original works of art or music on topics related to Mennonite and Anabaptist history, identity, or theology. Deadline: April 1, 2015. Cash prizes. See attached flyer and details at ml.bethelks.edu
