MANHATTAN MENNONITE CHURCH MAKES PROGRESS ON NEW MEETINGHOUSE
In the first four months of Manhattan Mennonite Church’s Capital Building Campaign, the Church has succeeded in raising $65,355 to establish a new meetinghouse in downtown Manhattan! With an overall goal to raise $300,000, the campaign is off to a great start. To celebrate the initial success, church members gathered at the historic Union Pacific Train Depot in Manhattan for food, fellowship and song and to make a further commitment to monthly pledges toward the campaign goal. As a result, sixteen households collectively pledged close to $3,000 each month! The congregation plans to continue their fundraising efforts with the goal of raising $70,000 each year for the next three years. The congregation remains inspired through stewardship-themed sermons and by joyful giving testimonies presented by members. Bob Atchison, chair of the Capital Building Campaign, continually emphasizes that the campaign is not so much about money, but rather, people actively participating in furthering the mission and vision of Manhattan Mennonite Church. In addition to the monthly pledges, the congregation has also received several donations from Manhattan Mennonite Church “alumni” (individuals and households who have been a part of the congregation in years past). Information about the Capital Building Campaign is available online at: www.manhattan.ks.us.mennonite.net/ or by calling Bob Atchison at 785-539-5352.
