WESTERN DISTRICT CONFERENCE

SEEDS

FISH FOOD

“I help plan worship along with our new pastor, Bob Beecher, and I think this conference (Year of the Bible Launch, held Aug 1-2) will help us to better connect with the Bible in our planning.  Not everyone learns in the same way, or worships in the same way.  And so it is helpful to discover the many creative and diverse ways of helping people connect with God.  I especially enjoyed the learning center presented by Kristin Neufeld Epp, ‘Become Like a Child:  Speaking Kid’s Language in Children’s Time.’  She shared how we may use physical elements to help kids connect with scripture.  Even though her material was geared for children, I know that adults who listen to kids’ sermons get just as much out of them as the kids do!  So her material will be helpful for all ages.  She encouraged us to use everyday items as connectors to the scriptures.  For example, she used the story of Jesus giving instructions to the disciples who fished all night and didn’t catch anything.  She passed around a bag that had fish food in it as a way to engage the sense of smell.”
