At the recent Western District Conference (WDC) annual assembly, we were deeply encouraged by the strong and positive response to the work of church planting. The silent auction and special offering were embraced with generosity and enthusiasm, reminding us that this mission is not the work of a few individuals but a shared calling across our conference. The Spirit is moving among us, stirring hearts to imagine new ways of being church.
For us in the Church Planting Commission (CPC), church planting is not about designing the perfect plan or following a formula. Instead, it begins with listening, listening to the Spirit, listening to the needs of communities, and recognizing the leaders God is raising up to respond within their unique context. We believe that God is already at work in neighborhoods, families, and cultures, and our task is to join in that work with humility and hope.
In a world marked by polarization and division, new congregations are emerging as signs of peace and reconciliation. These communities, whether gathered in homes, sanctuaries, or community spaces, embody the Anabaptist conviction that the church is called to live differently, rooted in Jesus, shaped by community, and committed to peace.
Supporting church planters is one way we live out this vision together. It means walking alongside leaders, encouraging them as they discern God’s call, and trusting the Spirit’s creativity to guide the way. Every new congregation, no matter how small or fragile at its beginning, is a testimony to God’s future breaking into our present.
The generosity shown at the assembly through the silent auction and offering is more than financial support, it is a witness of hope. It is a declaration that, together, we believe God is still planting seeds of peace, raising up new communities of faith, and calling us to embody the gospel in diverse and creative ways.
We invite you to continue walking with us in this work. Join us in praying for new church planters and the communities they are nurturing. Consider ways you and your congregation can offer encouragement, resources, or partnership. Together, we can strengthen this witness and participate in God’s ongoing mission of reconciliation and peace.

Sembrando Semillas de Paz: La Plantación de Iglesias como Testimonio Anabautista
En la reciente asamblea anual de Western District Conference (WDC), nos sentimos profundamente animados por la respuesta tan positiva al trabajo de plantación de iglesias. La subasta silenciosa y la ofrenda especial fueron recibidas con generosidad y entusiasmo, recordándonos que esta misión no es tarea de unos pocos individuos, sino un llamado compartido en toda nuestra conferencia. El Espíritu se está moviendo entre nosotros, despertando corazones para imaginar nuevas formas de ser iglesia.
Para nosotros en la Comisión de Plantación de Iglesias (CPC), la plantación de iglesias no se trata de diseñar el plan perfecto ni de seguir una fórmula. Más bien, comienza con la escucha: escuchar al Espíritu, escuchar las necesidades de las comunidades y reconocer a los líderes que Dios está levantando para responder dentro de su propio contexto. Creemos que Dios ya está obrando en los vecindarios, familias y culturas, y nuestra tarea es unirnos a esa obra con humildad y esperanza.
En un mundo marcado por la polarización y la división, las nuevas congregaciones surgen como señales de paz y reconciliación. Estas comunidades, ya sea que se reúnan en hogares, templos prestados o espacios comunitarios, encarnan la convicción anabautista de que la iglesia está llamada a vivir de manera diferente: arraigada en Jesús, formada en comunidad y comprometida con la paz.
Apoyar a quienes plantan iglesias es una manera de vivir juntos esta visión. Significa caminar al lado de los líderes, animarlos mientras disciernen el llamado de Dios y confiar en la creatividad del Espíritu que guía el camino. Cada nueva congregación, por pequeña o frágil que parezca al principio, es un testimonio del futuro de Dios irrumpiendo en nuestro presente.
La generosidad mostrada en la asamblea, a través de la subasta silenciosa y la ofrenda, es más que un apoyo financiero: es un testimonio de esperanza. Es una declaración de que, juntos, creemos que Dios sigue sembrando semillas de paz, levantando nuevas comunidades de fe y llamándonos a encarnar el evangelio de maneras diversas y creativas.
Les invitamos a seguir caminando con nosotros en esta labor. Únanse en oración por los nuevos plantadores de iglesias y las comunidades que están formando. Consideren cómo ustedes y sus congregaciones pueden ofrecer ánimo, recursos o colaboración. Juntos podemos fortalecer este testimonio y participar en la misión continua de Dios de reconciliación y paz.
