Members of Western District Conference met with Macaire Kilambo Kabanga and Roussel Kumakamba Mimboro (L-R) from the Congo on Monday, April 29. Macaire operates a trucking business and Roussel is Director of the Congolese Social Security office. These two Lay Ministry Leaders from the Mennonite Church of Congo were gathering ideas and possibilities for strengthening the church in the Congo. “Members are unemployed; pastors are unpaid; facilities are falling into disrepair,” was one plain-spoken description. “We need job generating businesses so that members can support the church.” The two suggested church-to-church partnerships and as well as person-to-person relationships.
