Jason Boone (Coordinating Minister for Peace and Justice Support Network of Mennonite Church USA), Tammy Alexander (Legislative Associate for Domestic Affairs for MCC US in Washington DC) and Saulo Padilla (Immigration Education Coordinator with MCC US)  resourced over 130 persons at the “Citizens of God’s Kingdom:  Immigration and Christian Faith” gathering on March 1-2.  Participants learned that the two primary causes of migration are economic desperation and anarchy/war/violence.  For example, NAFTA displaced millions of subsistence corn farmers in Mexico, some of whom then sought employment in the U.S.  Enforcement will fail unless root causes are addressed.

For the Lord your God “loves the foreigners residing among you, giving them food and clothing” (Deut 10:18). WDC has at least three Anglo churches each supporting one immigrant family.
