As our calendars show the beginning of a new year, we pause to reflect on how we have seen God at work in our churches and in our lives. Some call these “God sightings.” In the global church, together we recently recognized that God-is-with-us in Immanuel. God was born among us in Jesus. Surely this was a God sighting a certain group of shepherds would never forget! Perhaps some mages or seers or even kings were startled by the birth of a tiny king who was not at all what they had expected. Did they recognize the Divine in that child’s face?
In the WDC office, we recognized God’s hand of provision as we said goodbye to Beth Yoder, our wonderful former Business Manager and said hello to Shari Sheffler, our creative new Business Manager. We also welcomed Mike Lamb who will help us develop stronger communication and relationships with our donors, those who cheerfully give a “mite” and those who contribute out of abundance.
Will your congregation take time to reflect on your own God sightings? WDC would love to hear your stories of God’s faithfulness in the past year or two. If you’d ask a young person to record a very short video, we’d be happy to share it on the WDC Facebook page. A brief written account might make its way into future News & Events articles.
Let’s encourage each other with stories of how God has been with us and challenge each other to be on the look-out for how God will be present and at work with us in this new year!

¡Avistamientos de Dios!
Mientras nuestros calendarios muestran el comienzo de un nuevo año, hacemos una pausa para reflexionar sobre cómo hemos visto a Dios obrando en nuestras iglesias y en nuestras vidas. Algunos los llaman “avistamientos de Dios”. En la iglesia global, juntos reconocimos recientemente que Dios está con nosotros en Emanuel. Dios nació entre nosotros en Jesús. ¡Seguramente este fue un evento de Dios que un cierto grupo de pastores nunca olvidaría! Quizás algunos magos o videntes o incluso reyes se sorprendieron por el nacimiento de un rey diminuto que no era en absoluto lo que esperaban. ¿Reconocieron lo Divino en el rostro de ese niño?
En la oficina de WDC, reconocimos la mano proveedora de Dios al despedirnos de Beth Yoder, nuestra maravillosa exgerente comercial, y saludar a Shari Sheffler, nuestra nueva y creativa gerente comercial. También le dimos la bienvenida a Mike Lamb, quien nos ayudará a desarrollar una comunicación y relaciones más sólidas con nuestros donantes, aquellos que alegremente dan un “poco” y aquellos que contribuyen en abundancia.
¿Se tomará su congregación tiempo para reflexionar sobre sus propios avistamientos de Dios? A WDC le encantaría escuchar sus historias sobre la fidelidad de Dios durante el último año o dos. Si le pide a un joven que grabe un video muy corto, estaremos encantados de compartirlo en la página de Facebook de WDC. Un breve relato escrito podría aparecer en futuros artículos de Noticias y Eventos.
¡Animémonos unos a otros con historias de cómo Dios ha estado con nosotros y desafiémonos unos a otros a estar atentos a cómo Dios estará presente y obrará con nosotros en este nuevo año!
