A BANNER TRADITION
The April issue of Purpose includes an article by Hope Mennonite (Wichita, KS) church secretary, Cynthia Loganbill, describing Hope’s “Banner Tradition.” Begun in 1985 when Marvin Zehr planted Hope Mennonite Church, a banner is created each year which provides a background for “symbols which acknowledge and celebrate important moments in the life of the church and in the lives of our church family. These yearly symbols recognize births, deaths, church membership, baptisms, wedding anniversary milestones, graduations, and other special events and accomplishments.” It provides an opportunity for Hope to both celebrate and give thanks for God’s work in our lives!
