First Mennonite Church of Halstead, KS will celebrate their 150th anniversary on March 29 and 30 with a weekend full of activities. The events are open to the public. Reservations for meals are requested for planning purposes and can be made on the church’s website: firstmennonitehalstead.org. Saturday’s schedule will include service projects in the morning followed by lunch. A traditional German supper, “Faspa,” will be served in the evening before a concert featuring the vocal and bell choirs at the church. A youth bell choir will also be performing. The Sunday service will begin at 10 a.m. and James Krehbiel, great-great-grandson of Christian Krehbiel, one of the first pastors of First Mennonite Church of Halstead, will bring the message. A catered lunch by Knackies will follow the service and historical displays will be located in the basement classrooms.
