WHO: Members of WDC elected leadership groups (Executive Board, Commissions, Gifts Discernment Committee), and staff
Reference Council is not a decision-making body, but rather brings WDC leaders together to engage in dialogue, foster relationships, voice collective aspirations and concerns, and provide opportunity for communication between and among leadership groups. (See WDC Constitution & Bylaws for full description of Reference Council)
To nurture our shared mission, this Reference Council meeting will focus on the first element in the WDC mission statement, “Witness and invite others to faith in Jesus Christ.” (This follows the past two years’ themes of “Dwell in just and loving relationships” and “Connect to God’s mission in the world.”)
Our gathering will include prayer and worship, presentations and conversation about how we are bearing witness to Christ’s presence in our work within WDC. We will also imagine together how this theme could shape a future listening process within the wider conference to bear witness to the stories, hopes and challenges of WDC congregations, and learn more about how WDC can empower congregations to Witness and invite others to faith in Jesus Christ, Dwell in just and loving relationships, and Connect to God’s mission in the world.
